This Privacy Policy explains how Dmitry Cherkasov (“I”, “me”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit dcherkasov.com (the “Site”).

Contact details you send me

If you use the contact form, I receive the email address you submit so I can reply. I do not use that address for marketing lists.

Usage data through Google Analytics

I use Google Analytics 4 (property ID G-126ZX5N3Z0) to understand how the Site is used — for example which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and what device or browser they use.

Google Analytics may collect:

  • pages viewed and time spent on the Site
  • referring website or campaign
  • approximate location (city/country level)
  • device, browser, and operating system
  • a truncated IP address (IP anonymization is enabled)

This information is processed by Google on my behalf. Google may also process data as described in the Google Privacy Policy and Google Analytics documentation.

Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings in the footer.

Cookies and similar storage

The Site uses:

  • Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — persistent cookies used to distinguish visitors and sessions. They are set only if you accept analytics cookies. Typical lifetime is up to 2 years.
  • Cookie consent — stored in your browser (localStorage) so the Site remembers Accept or Reject.
  • Theme preference — stored in your browser (localStorage) if you switch light/dark mode. This is functional storage, not advertising.

You can also block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may affect some Site features (for example remembering your theme).

How I use information

  • to reply when you contact me
  • to understand which content is useful and to improve the Site
  • to keep the Site secure and working

I do not sell your personal information. I do not use advertising cookies or Google Ads on this Site.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom:

  • Consent — Google Analytics and analytics cookies
  • Legitimate interests / steps at your request — answering a message you send through the contact form

You can withdraw analytics consent at any time through Cookie settings. That does not affect the lawfulness of processing before you withdrew consent.

How long data is kept

  • Contact emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up, then deleted unless I need to keep them for a legal reason.
  • Google Analytics retains data according to the retention setting in my Analytics account (typically a rolling 2–14 months for event data, plus Google’s cookie lifetimes above).

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • reject or later disable analytics cookies via Cookie settings
  • opt out of Google Analytics in your browser with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
  • ask me for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data I hold about you

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

The Site is not directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when I do. The current version is always published on this page.
